Throughout life, a person experiences peaks in different types of physical and mental activity. Here are some facts about aging:
FACT 1: CHARACTER BECOME MORE TOLERANT…
A grumpy old man or a stingy pawnbroker granny – this is the image of an elderly person that many people draw for themselves. However, this is not always the case. Often, on the contrary, people only become calmer with age. And more pleasant to talk to.
And you, when you reach old age, have every chance of becoming happier, and you will be less angry than usual. This change in behavior is associated with a decrease in hormones. They no longer boil as before, which means a person can better control their emotions.

FACT 2: …AND SEX IS BETTER
Yes, this is actually true, and why are you so surprised? Older people actually have sex less often than in their youth, but they do it… more productively! That is, they get more pleasure from the process.
A study involving women over 60 showed that sexual satisfaction in the fairer sex only improves with age. And what’s more, women over 80 are still able to have an orgasm – unlike their male peers.
FACT 3: GOODBYE, MIGRAINE!
Closer to 70, you have every chance of saying goodbye forever to migraines, which have probably tormented you for most of your life. It has been proven that only 10% of women and 5% of men over 70 experience this type of headache. Scientists have not yet found an explanation for this phenomenon, however, it is true – migraines recede with age.
FACT 4: LESS STRESS
According to the annual report of the American Psychological Association “Stress in America”, older people are less likely to encounter such a problem as stress. This does not mean that it goes away for good, no. However, commitment to it decreases with age.
A person may still have reasons for stressful situations – lack of sufficient money, a sick cat, etc. – but he no longer reacts so sharply to everything that happens. And thus saves his nerves.
FACT 5: “CRYSTALLIZATION” OF INTELLIGENCE
It is not for nothing that old age is called the golden age. At least because during this period people are entitled to benefits. And we are not talking about free travel or discounted utility bills. We are talking about more significant things.
For example, about the baggage of accumulated knowledge. Or the so-called “crystallized intelligence”, it continues to improve precisely at an age after 65 or 70 years. The ability of an elderly person to think can be compared to wisdom, and it does not matter that this thought process occurs at a slightly lower speed than that of young people. After all, the world is not run by freshly minted university graduates either.
FACT 6: HAIR GROWS – BUT NOT THERE
With age, hair thins – this is a well-known fact. However, hair does not thin all over the body. In some places, on the contrary, it only becomes more.
For example, men have more hair in their nose and ears. And women have small hairs on their chins. The vegetation in the genital area also changes. All this is also caused by changes in hormones.
FACT 7: INCREASED EFFICIENCY
An older person has a better chance of writing a book or developing a brilliant plan. And not at all because there is no need to go to work and there is a lot of free time, but because his work schedule changes.
In youth, everyone wants to sleep until lunch, and in old age, people become “larks”. And it is not always connected with insomnia. Most often, an elderly person simply needs 5-6 hours to get enough sleep and have a good rest. Therefore, early in the morning, at the most productive time of the day, they are ready for great things!
FACT 8: LESS FINES
The number of traffic accidents involving elderly drivers is much lower than average. This was shown by a study conducted by the US Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
For experts, the results of the study were a little surprising, because the opposite was expected – after all, age, poor eyesight, health problems. But it turned out that since 1997, the number of fatal accidents involving the elderly worldwide has decreased by 42%, and this is primarily due to driving skills and calm driving.
FACT 9: MORE ENDURANCE
Statistics show that Ironman competitors generally run better marathons if they are over 40 years old. Experts believe that it is age that gives an advantage in competition – the enormous endurance and willpower required for such sports comes with age.
FACT 10: ELDERLY PEOPLE HAVE THEIR OWN “PROFESSIONAL” HOLIDAY
And that means an extra reason to meet with “colleagues of age” and friends. And celebrate the occasion! International Day of Older Persons has been celebrated every year on October 1 since 1991. It was proclaimed at the 45th session of the UN General Assembly.
