COMPANION
Position Description
The Companion supports older adults by offering social and emotional engagement while providing personal assistant services. This includes planning and accompanying clients to appointments and social activities, participating in their hobbies, shopping with or for them, facilitating video calls, organizing home spaces, planning events, and other related tasks.

- Essential Duties
- Develop meaningful relationships with clients and foster genuine connections.
- Promote client independence by supporting clients in maintaining their autonomy so they can remain in their homes safely.
- Encourage and participate in social and recreational activities (e.g., games, walks, reading, conversation, hobbies).
- Assist with scheduling and errands, which may include transporting clients to and from various locations.
- Accompany clients to appointments and provide any necessary support.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks (e.g., washing dishes, laundry, ironing, sweeping, mopping, changing bed linens, caring for pets and plants, meal planning and preparation).
- Provide medication reminders (without administering medications).
- Ensure the safety of the client’s environment at all times.
- Document changes in the client’s mental, physical, or emotional condition and inform the immediate supervisor.
- Follow all HIPAA, confidentiality, safety, and security procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of daily activities.
- Follow our curriculum for daily activities.
Other Responsibilities
Identify and propose initiatives aimed at empowering clients and enhancing service delivery.
Attend meetings and training sessions to gain knowledge specific to the population served and to further professional growth.
Perform other tasks as required.
Supervisory Duties
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Education Requirements
Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer-facing role.
Additional Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old.
Possess a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance with a good driving record (transporting clients to appointments, errands, or social events is required).
Must be able to pass a criminal background check, TB screening, and physical exam (recertification as directed by a physician).
Required vaccinations: Hepatitis B, annual Influenza, MMR, Varicella (chickenpox), and Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, including 10-year boosters).
