Breakfast for women over 50+

Nutritionist and author of The Sports Nutrition Playbook Emmy Hudson said that women over 50 should eat protein foods for breakfast.

As the specialist notes, there are certain age thresholds. When a person overcomes them, serious changes occur in their body that affect muscles, bones, and cells. Of course, it is impossible to completely stop the aging process, but some changes in life and the right habits can help make it less dramatic.

And this, in turn, helps to mitigate the negative effects of changes that occur with age. Therefore, the expert advises women over 50 to regularly eat protein, both plant and animal, because at this age the body is already losing muscle mass, and protein is the best product for strengthening it.

Any product with a high protein content is the best food for women who have crossed the 50-year mark. As we get older, our body loses approximately 2-3% of muscle mass per 10 years of life. And to prevent this, the best thing you can do is to consume high-quality protein, especially for breakfast.

The expert recommends starting your day with 25-30 grams of protein. Yes, says Emmy, the body will produce an amino acid that is necessary for maintaining muscle mass. And there is also a positive “side” effect – you will feel fuller longer, and therefore will be able to hold out without unhealthy snacks until lunch.

Hudson advises to look at such breakfast options as plain Greek yogurt with sugar-free granola and half a banana, boiled eggs or an omelet, a sandwich on whole grain bread with cheese, ham and vegetables.
